Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist in Kitchener?
No, a referral is not needed to see a physiotherapist in Ontario, including at our clinic in Kitchener. That said, some insurance plans may require one for reimbursement, so it’s always a good idea to check with your provider.
What conditions do physiotherapists treat?
At True Balance Rehabilitation, we treat everything from back or neck pain, shoulder injuries, post-surgical rehab, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, to ankle injuries. Whether it’s an old injury or a new one, we tailor your care plan towards your goals.
Is physiotherapy covered by OHIP in Ontario?
In most cases, physiotherapy is not covered by OHIP unless you’re eligible under specific government programs.
With that said, many services at True Balance Rehabilitation are covered under extended health insurance plans. A doctor’s referral is not required to see a physiotherapist so you can start treatment right away.
For your convenience, we also offer direct billing to many insurance companies making your recovery simple and stress-free.
Send us an email or give us a call to ask if your benefits are eligible for direct billing and to book your first visit.
Do you accept workplace safety and insurance board (WSIB) and motor vehicle accident (MVA) claims?
Yes! We are authorized to treat patients under Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) claims.
WSIB Coverage
To start a WSIB claim, report your workplace injury to your employer and WSIB as soon as possible.
Once your claim is approved, our physiotherapists can assess your injury and begin treatment immediately. A doctor’s note is not required.
With direct billing to WSIB, we make the process simple so you can focus on recovery and a safe return to work.
Motor Vehicle Accident Coverage
If you’ve been involved in an MVA, you will first need to contact your auto insurance provider to open a claim. After that, our physiotherapists can assess your injuries and begin treatment right away. A doctor’s referral is not required.
With direct billing to your insurance company, you can focus on recovery while we take care of the paperwork.
How do I pay?
After your visit, we accept debit, credit card, etransfer, or direct billing to your extended health insurance provider. You will also be provided with a receipt that you can submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement. We are also happy to accept WSIB and MVA claims for physiotherapy services.
What should I expect during my first physiotherapy visit?
Your first physiotherapy visit will be approximately 45-60 minutes in length and will include a comprehensive assessment where he listens to your story, test specific movements, and identify the root cause of the problem. From here, we’ll build a personalized care plan based on your goals.
How soon can I get a physiotherapy appointment?
We offer flexible scheduling and can usually get you in for an appointment within 1–3 business days.
